School of Mines Mineral Museum

To add a little to the other geological knowledge we’ve picked up this week, we stopped by the WA School of Mines mineral collection. This is a comprehensive collection of interesting minerals from all over Australia. One of the favorites was the “Zebra Rock” - a red and white banded sedimentary rock that can be found in the Kimberly, and formally at Lake Argyle (now underwater). No one knows exactly how this pretty rock is formed.
