Putting the E in STEM this afternoon was a visit from a mining engineer to help us understand “rock bolting”. This is a method of shoring up rock walls to prevent them from slipping, in one of the photos you can see a major slip that occurred in the super pit this year.
We had a variety of bolts and capturing devices and a tight budget to try and keep all our rocks in the bucket.
